“Ameca”, the surprising Robot that imitates Human gestures

Engineered Arts presents the video of Ameca, its humanoid robot that recreates extremely robot-like facial expressions. British robotics company Engineered Arts has just released the first videos of its new humanoid robot, capable of creating hyper-realistic facial expressions. It’s an impressive achievement in the world of robotics, but also absolutely terrifying.

Called Ameca, the robot’s face features eyes, cheeks, mouth, and forehead that twist and change shape to express emotions ranging from awe to surprise to happiness. One of Ameca’s new videos shows him awakening and seemingly confronting his own existence for the first time.

Although he resembles a human, stands upright, and can move with his arms, Ameca still can’t walk. Engineered Arts plans to change that as soon as possible.
