The ship went to Great Lakes Shipyard in Cleveland for inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During review,&nbsp;<strong>Doug Ricketts<\/strong>, UMD Large Lakes Observatory (LLO) marine superintendent, spotted thick, tar-like black substance oozing from the rudder shaft. Unlike anything he&#8217;d seen, he collected a sample in a plastic cup and gave it to Prof.&nbsp;<strong>Cody Shiek<\/strong>, microbial ecologist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shiek initially doubted viable biology. But analysis revealed&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/adn-fuhrer-alteracion-consecuencias\/\">DNA<\/a>&nbsp;in good condition and sufficient biomass.
