The capsule is called Excelsior. Several flights are planned for this year, with plans to carry several customers on board for a unique experience.

All of these will be carried out from the same location, off the coast of Cape Canaveral. The capsule will fly over the Atlantic. Space Perspective’s chief technology officer and co-founder, Taber MacCallum, showed progress, confirming that the balloon that will propel the craft into the upper atmosphere has been completed.

Taber MacCallum

3 key elements for the launch of Space Perspective

The first element is already ready: the capsule that will carry the ship’s guests and crew. The second is also ready: the balloon that will ensure the ship reaches high altitudes; it is planned to be able to reach the upper atmosphere.

Recommendation: Varda Space and Rocket Lab achieve a unique space landing in Utah

The third element is a spacecraft named Marine Spaceport Voyager. This will carry both the balloon and the capsule. The launch site will be the corporation’s facilities in Louisiana. From there, everything will be transported to Port Canaveral.

After the capsule and balloon are delivered, ground equipment will begin to be assembled for the launch. This process can take between four and six weeks, but if any issues arise, it could take a couple more weeks. Since this is a test launch, this is normal.

The Excelsior capsule can reach near space

Space Perspective’s goal is to create comfortable and safe capsules to offer its services to interested individuals. The services would involve elevating them to an altitude of 100,000 feet inside the capsule. At that height, they would be able to enjoy a unique and impressive view and enjoy the experience.

The capsule will be close to leaving Earth’s atmosphere, and those inside will no longer see the blue sky.
