Despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/rompen-records-de-temperatura-en-europa-ola-de-calor-inducida-por-la-crisis-climatica-aegb\/\">overwhelming heat<\/a>, the young boy collected almost 10 kg of cotton daily, enduring the pricks of thorns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He wouldn&#8217;t know it, nor would the photographer who took the image, but Harold would become the symbol of the hardships faced by <strong>child farm workers<\/strong>. Credit: Library of Congress\/Lewis Hine.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The day photographer <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lewis_Hine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lewis Hine<\/a> captured photographs of Harold Walker and his younger brother, Jewell, alongside their family, 40 days had passed since the approval of the <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.k20center.ou.edu\/lesson\/310\/Keating-Owen%2520Child%2520Labor%2520Act%25E2%2580%2594What%2520Was%2520the%2520Progressive%2520Era%2520-%2520Spanish.pdf?rev=16849&amp;language=Spanish#:~:text=Los%20ni%C3%B1os%20de%20tan%20solo,Supremo%20declar%C3%B3%20la%20ley%20inconstitucional.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keating-Owen Child Labor Act<\/a>, the first federal law regulating child labor in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/farmaceuticas-iranies-obligadas-usar-hijab-negro-aegb\/\">law<\/a> applied virtually to all manufacturing companies, factories, coal mines, and fish canneries. However, it did not address the issue of child farm workers who worked with their parents on <strong>family farms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his trip to Comache, Oklahoma, in 1916, Hine had worked for the <strong>National Child Labor Committee<\/strong> for over 8 years. His photographs were highly acclaimed and are considered one of the main reasons numerous states passed <strong>stricter child labor laws<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">LAW CHANGES<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/fotografias-historicas-harold-walker-y-su-impacto-en-el-trabajo-infantil-2.jpg\" alt=\"Historical Photographs: Harold Walker and His Impact on Child Labor\" class=\"wp-image-557388\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/fotografias-historicas-harold-walker-y-su-impacto-en-el-trabajo-infantil-2.jpg 700w, https:\/\/cerebrodigital.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/fotografias-historicas-harold-walker-y-su-impacto-en-el-trabajo-infantil-2-300x171.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\nWalker family working on their agricultural land. Making significant progress, the National Child Labor Committee asked Hine to go to Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Colorado to report on the <strong>quality of life<\/strong> of children working on family and non-family farms, emphasizing safety and their attendance in schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee aimed to establish <strong>future guidelines<\/strong> on how to address this issue and its evolution. Unfortunately, 2 years later, in 1918, the federal law was <strong>overturned<\/strong> by the United States Supreme Court, but the precedent had already been set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unions, stricter state laws, and increasingly modern manufacturing methods in factories resulted in a substantial <strong>decrease in child labor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The photographs of Harold Walker and his family went down in history and were instrumental in changing its course.
