However, thanks to the discovery of this new species of cockroach, the character now has a place in the world of science.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entomologists, one from Singapore and one from the Philippines, published their discovery in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1226861523000262?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology<\/a> on February 27.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entomologists compared the male genitalia of the new cockroach specimens with those of their &#8220;closest relative&#8221; in Borneo to discover the new species. Because the new cockroach has many similarities to the Pok\u00e9mon creature, scientists named it Nocticola pheromosa.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-gestor-del-servicio wp-block-embed-gestor-del-servicio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lkcnhm\/posts\/5871522382896995\" data-width=\"552\" style=\"background-color: #fff; display: inline-block;\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the authors of the study, Foo Maosheng, explained that the new cockroach species has similar characteristics to Pheromosa, such as long antennae, hood-like wings and long, slender legs.
